Bachelor of Religion Degree

The focus of the B. A. in Religion Degree program is to prepare students for full-time Christian ministry in the Church. Students receive counsel in the selection of specific major or minor programs of study as they seek to respond God's call on their lives.

Preparation for ministry is accomplished through a balanced curriculum that combines a foundation in general studies, Bible and theology, and professional practical ministry courses. Depending on the selection of major or minor programs of study, students are required to complete between 37 to 55 credit hours in General Studies, between 41 to 44 credit hours in Bible and Theology, and between 41 to 62 credit hours in Professional Studies courses.

This curriculum is taught by highly competent, caring faculty with years of practical ministry experience. Bethany's full and part-time teaching faculty bring more than 150 years of experience to the classroom. In addition to the classroom curriculum, all students are exposed to a broad range of ministries in the local church through the completion of student ministry assignments. Toward the end of Degree Program the practical ministry training culminates in an intensive six-month supervised ministry experience under the direction of a qualified, effective ministry professional.

The B. A. Religion Degree meets all the academic requirements for the office of Ordained Minister in The Wesleyan Church. Students from other denominations are encouraged to consult with the credentialing authorities within their church.
