Church Planting Major

The Church Planting Major program of study is an aggressive four-year program designed to prepare students to effectively lead church planting projects. Graduates will have been exposed to proven church planting and church growth principles, as well as to a church planting system that includes churches planting churches.
In this program, you will experience:
- advanced practical ministry preparation,
- mentoring by an effective senior pastor, and
- an intellectually challenging academic curriculum.

What will the Church Planting Major program of study prepare me to do?
In successfully completing the requirements of this program you will be prepared to effectively minister as a church planter.
- What are some of the specific areas in which I will be trained?
Through study of the Bible and theology, preparation for preaching and practical preaching experiences, you will be prepared to effectively and convictionally communicate the Word of God leading to life-change and Christ-likeness. You will be exposed to effective church planters and church growth principles vital to a successful plant. A study of the qualities of an effective planter will help you discover your potential as a church planter. You will also learn how to lead a congregation in fulfilling the Great Commission through training in evangelism, leadership, and church administration.
- What else will my training include?
In addition to Bible and theology, you will also study such subjects as history, philosophy, psychology, and sociology. These will help you better understand people and the culture in which you will minister.
Church Planting at Bethany is unique in several ways:
- You will be exposed to several effective church planters and other church leaders as they visit campus.
- You will not only learn the theory behind the work of ministry, you will learn how to do the work of ministry such as leading in the celebration of the Lord’s Supper and conducting weddings, baptisms, funerals, and board meetings.
- You will be able to choose from a broad selection of ministry courses to increase your effectiveness as a church planter.
