PLANS FOR A NEW LIBRARY

Upon completion of the Chapel Project, we will launch the Phase II of the Decade of Development Campaign and focus on construction of the new Library & Learning Centre. This centre for learning and leadership development will fulfill standards for an accredited college, accommodate projected growth to 500 students, and allow for the addition of new programs of study. As we move toward utilizing the entire facility, the library holdings can be expanded up to 200,000 volumes.

Superior Design

  • Initial shelf space for 60,000 volumes

"A library is a reflection of the academic spirit of the institution. It makes a clear statement about how highly that institution values learning and the educational process. At a time when both written and electronic forms of information are increasing exponentially, there is an overwhelming and compelling need for us to take the College to a new level of service. The new library learning centre will equip and empower the College to move forward in fulfilling her mission to meet the ministry needs of the Church."

Dr. Arthur Maxwell, Academic Dean 1991-2008

"As a Bible College, Bethany advertises herself as providing the resources for preparing doctors of the human soul ministers of God's grace motivated by a deep love for God and people. This love compels them to prepare themselves with the best education possible - which is impossible without an adequate library.

If we believe in our divine mandate to prepare workers for the harvest, then we automatically have a divine mandate to ensure that we have the resources to do that with excellence. That is the need a new library will address.

God does not prefer passionate hearts and empty heads; just the contrary, God creates passionate hearts through informed minds. Conversely, passionate hearts communicate most effectively through well informed and well trained minds. For this very reason we require that our students be able to exegete both the Word and the world. That, in fact, is what preachers do. This in turn requires a comprehensive and up-to-date library."
