Bethany will also receive a special grant of $175,000 per year for the next two years, a total of $350,000 to help reduce the college’s capital debt. This is in addition to a $100,000 grant received this past year by action of the Wesleyan Educational Council.

PCS PotashCorp Gives $1M
for Fundy Civic Centre Project

Jan. 27. 2009 - PCS PotashCorp presented a naming gift of $1,000,000 to the Fundy Civic Centre project to support building an indoor pool and fitness centre adjacent to Bethany’s campus. Facility plans include a six-lane, 25 meter competition swimming pool, swirl pool for toddlers and seniors, fitness centre, and walking track.
By action of the Board of Directors, FCC Chairman David Medders, officially named the planned facility "The PotashCorp Civic Centre" in recognition of this magnanimous project support and visionary leadership demonstrated by this bold initiative to invest in the health and vitality of the people of the Kings County area.
John Robinson, FCC Fundraising Campaign Chairman, was joined by John deWinter, Lead Gifts Committee Chair, to accept this contribution in behalf of the community and those who have worked to help this dream become a reality. Mr. Robinson shared, “As a result of this contribution, we are just shy of our $3,000,000 objective and exceeding that objective is now not only possible but probable.” With this contribution, project funding is approaching the $6 M goal needed to complete the project. This figure includes an initial $3 M from the federal and provincial governments.
Gratitude is expressed to leaders of PCS PotashCorp and many community leaders who have worked together to reach this high moment in the life of our community. We also rejoice in the wellness benefit such a facility will bring to the Bethany campus.
